Joe Takayama is a CGI artist and a lecturer of Kyusyu Sangyo University, a private university in Fukuoka, Japan. He started his career as a CGI artsit when he was still an undergraduate student. After finishing his Ph.D. in 2007, he moved into the US as a visiting scholar of the ATEC (Arts & Technology Program), University of Texas at Dallas. His research in the US was funded by Japanese Government Overseas Study Programme for Artists (2007 - 2008), and the Grants for Overseas Study by Young Artists (2008 - 2009) managed by Pola Art Foundation in Japan. His research interest is procedural animation and algorithmic art. Some of his animation works were awarded prizes, and screened at various film festivals and conferences including SIGGRAPH, Ars Electronica, and Eurographics.
